Trump Demands End of Border Deal - McConnell Complies

January 25, 2024

NBC News has the scoop: Mitch McConnell and his GOP senatorial sidekicks are bending over backwards to meet Donald Trump's demands, effectively torpedoing a crucial deal on border security. According to the report, McConnell, in a secret GOP pow-wow, threw a wrench into the works of an emerging deal to tighten immigration laws.

It seems Trump has ordered his GOP Congressional minions to scuttle the border deal, all so he can weaponize the current immigrant surge against President Biden. Because, you know, nothing says "leadership" like exploiting a humanitarian crisis for political gain.

Almost all GOP Congressional hopefuls are parroting the narrative that the immigrant influx, caused by destabilization throughout Latin America, is proof positive that Biden should be replaced by right-wing darling, Donald Trump. Because who better to solve a crisis than the guy who helped create it?

The blatant disregard for the human suffering that is both the cause and effect at the Texas border, all in the name of reinstalling an immigrant-bashing, impeached, indicted candidate, is a glaring example of why many people believe our national politics are in shambles. But hey, who needs empathy and effective policy when you've got fear-mongering and political gamesmanship, right?
