Title 42 Expired - Blame Biden Game Hides the Real Problems

Title 42, the policy restricting asylum seekers during the pandemic, has expired. Biden Administration critics had predicted a massive surge at the border, which has yet to materialize as of this writing. The other thing that hasn't appeared is any real legislation to streamline and improve the immigration process.

Last week I was asked by CBS Radio News to share my point of view on the border dilemma. While I wholeheartedly disagree with the use of Title 42, it was the law of the land, as is its expiration. The obsession of blaming President Biden for its end is not only inaccurate, it deflects attention from the lack of congressional action. 

The blame Biden game also hides the root causes of the immigration surge. Regional instability caused by authoritarian regimes and ruthless cartels has caused unprecedented migration. The immigration issue is complex; the blame game is counterproductive and harmful in the current context.
