NBC: Latino/a's Make Up Largest Share of New Voters!
January 22, 2024
NBC just dropped a bombshell: "Latinos account for half of the growth in new eligible voters since the last presidential election cycle in 2020," according to a fresh-off-the-press report by the Pew Research Center. This must have groups like Mi Familia Vota doing a victory dance.
MFV and other grassroots organizations have been grinding away for the past two years, aiming to boost the number of registered Latino voters in the U.S. Guess what? They've knocked it out of the park.
But here's the million-dollar question: Will these Latino voters show up at the polls? And if they do, who will they vote for?
Democrats have been resting easy, banking on Latino voters to back their presidential candidate at a comfy 65%. But if Republicans manage to woo away even a sliver of that support—say, 15%—the Dems could find themselves on the outside looking in, not just this year, but for many presidential cycles to come.
