NJ Election Day: Vote for Josh Gottheimer
June 10, 2025
Two simple tasks for today:
1) Vote for Josh Gottheimer for Governor of New Jersey
2) No te dejas. (Don't give in.)
About “No te dejas”:
These three words have echoed through Latino households for generations. They've been whispered by mothers sending their children to school in neighborhoods that didn't want them. They've been shouted by fathers working double shifts to keep food on the table. They've been carried in the hearts of families crossing borders, crossing barriers, crossing every line drawn to keep us from building the life we deserve.
Today, as we stand at the crossroads of our families and New Jersey's future, those words ring louder than ever.
Josh Gottheimer understands what “no te dejas” means to our community. He knows that when we talk about housing, we're not just talking about four walls and a roof. We're talking about the foundation where our children learn their first words, where we share stories that connect us to our roots, where our family gathers to celebrate every small victory that builds toward the American Dream.
But here's the hard truth: that dream is slipping away from too many of our families. Housing costs are crushing us. Young couples are living in their childhood bedrooms because they can't afford their own place. Parents are working three jobs just to pay rent, missing their kids' soccer games and school plays.
“No te dejas” means we don't accept this as our fate.
Josh Gottheimer has fought for affordable housing initiatives that put homeownership within reach of working families. He's championed policies that protect renters from predatory landlords. He understands that when a Latino family has stable housing, everything else becomes possible. The kids do better in school. The parents can focus on building careers instead of just surviving. The community grows stronger.
This isn't just about policy papers and campaign promises. This is about Maria, who works at the hospital and dreams of buying a small house where her daughter can have her own room. This is about Carlos, who runs a small business and wants to invest in his community but can't because he's spending 60% of his income on rent. This is about every family in our community who refuses to give up on the idea that hard work should lead to stability, not just survival.
Many want us to believe that we should be grateful for scraps. They want us to accept that decent housing is a luxury, not a right. They want us to lower our expectations, to teach our children to dream smaller.
But we know better. “No te dejas“ runs in our blood.
Our ancestors didn't cross oceans and deserts and decades of discrimination so their grandchildren could settle for less. They didn't build businesses from nothing, learn new languages in their 40s, and work jobs that broke their backs so we could give up when the fight gets hard.
Josh Gottheimer gets this. He's seen how our community transforms neighborhoods, how we turn empty lots into gardens, how we turn struggling schools into places of excellence, how we turn economic challenges into opportunities for innovation. He knows that when you invest in Latino families, when you make housing affordable and accessible, you're not just helping individuals – you're strengthening the entire fabric of New Jersey.
Today is our moment. Today, we choose whether we're going to let others decide our future or whether we're going to write it ourselves. Today, we decide whether “no te dejas” is just a saying or a way of life.
Every vote is a declaration that we won't give in to those who want to keep us down. Every vote is a promise to our children that their dreams matter. Every vote is proof that when Latino families stand together, when we refuse to accept less than we deserve, we can move mountains.
The polls are open. Your voice is waiting to be heard. Your family's future is on the ballot.
No te dejas. (Don't give in.) Not today. Not ever. Vote for Josh Gottheimer for New Jersey Governor.
