Latino Voter Surge: Univision's Last-Minute Poll Highlights Election Impact

November 4, 2024

As we approach tomorrow's extremely important election, Univision has offered us a last-minute poll with a bounty of striking statistics. The poll results blow apart the previous prevailing idea that somehow Latinos were going to sit out this critical election cycle.

According to Univision, over 60% of Latino voters in Pennsylvania are engaged and supporting Kamala Harris. This underscores how significant the recent verbal attack on Puerto Rico by the Trump campaign has impacted the race.

This data serves as a direct counter to the dismissive narrative that has always underestimated Latino political power in the United States for the past number of decades. The Univision poll reveals key insights into the priorities and intentions of Latino voters.

A substantial 64% of the respondents in Pennsylvania expressed their support for Kamala Harris, and it's, of course, driven by their concerns over the disrespect that our communities have experienced over this last week, and quite frankly, over the last several political cycles.

This preference highlights the community's focus on candidates who prioritize cultural respect while speaking to our community's economic needs.

Latino voters are deeply engaged with complex policy issues, including economic growth, education, healthcare, and immigration reform. Our awareness and understanding of these topics demonstrate not only a political awareness but also a sophisticated political consciousness that pundits and political consultants often overlook.

The recent dismissive and harsh treatment of Latino voters, such as the derogatory jokes and immigrant-bashing statements made at recent Trump rallies, has not gone unnoticed, according to the Univision poll.

The poll indicates that 69% of the respondents found the comments made at Trump's recent rally about Puerto Rico to be more racist than humorous, and that reflects a broader sentiment of disapproval by Latinos from all Latino ethnicities of this rhetoric.

From Univision here are some voices from the poll:

  • Economic Issues: "We need leaders who offer real solutions to our economic challenges."

  • Education: "Supporting our children's success through education is crucial."

  • Healthcare: "Affordable healthcare is a right that must be protected."

  • Immigration Reform: "Comprehensive reform is essential for our prosperity."

Tomorrow is our chance to make a statement. By turning out in record numbers, we can ensure our voices are heard and our influence is felt. This election is not just about choosing leaders; it's about affirming our place in the political landscape.

As we approach the polls, let's remember the power we hold. Our community's political awareness and commitment to civic engagement are poised to make a significant impact. Together, we can shape a future that respects and values the contributions of Latino voters. Let's make our voices count.
