Florida: DeSantis Faces Backlash!

The backlash against Florida Governor Ron DeSantis was immediate. Florida Gov. DeSantis, who finds himself in a battle to retain his seat, used COVID funding to fly fifty Venezuelan asylum seekers to Marthas Vineyard. The migrants are fleeing the authoritarian Maduro government.
To accomplish the ploy, the GOP governor had his operatives tell the migrants that they were being flown to Boston, where they would be given work visas.
The action by DeSantis has created a firestorm. Many political analysts are claiming that the effort is a political ploy as the Florida Republican prepares for a possible Presidential election.
However, politics is filled with unintended consequences. According to the New Republic online magazine, "Charlie Crist, the Democratic nominee for governor, raised $1 million in the 48 hours after news of the GOP governor's Martha's Vineyard stunt."
