Economic Opportunities for Latinos: The Scorecard
January 12, 2025
Welcome back to The Scorecard, where we hold our elected officials accountable by comparing their promises to their actual deliverables. Today, we're diving into the realm of economic opportunities for Latinos, a topic that has been front and center in the political arena, especially after the 2024 election shake-up.

What They Promised:
The GOP came in with grand promises of revitalizing the economy and creating vast economic opportunities for Latinos. They painted a picture of a thriving economy where every Latino voter would have access to better jobs, higher wages, and a brighter future.
What They Delivered:
Well, it seems the GOP's plan is still in the works—or perhaps lost in translation. Despite the big talk, there's been little action. The promises of economic opportunities for Latinos remain just that—promises. With no concrete plan on the table, Latino voters are left wondering when these opportunities will materialize.
Democratic Party
What They Promised:
On the other side of the aisle, Democrats, led by voices like Rep. Ro Khanna, emphasized the need to focus on economic issues. They assured us they "got it" and would address the economic hardships faced by many, including the Latino community. The vision was clear: raise the minimum wage, improve child care, and build new factories.
What They Delivered:
Yet, here we are, still waiting for that vision to take shape. While the Democrats acknowledged the importance of economic opportunities for Latinos, the lack of a detailed plan leaves us with more questions than answers. The rhetoric is there, but the roadmap is missing.
Today's Scorecard:
GOP: 0 - Dems: 0
So, as we tally up today's scorecard, it's Republicans 0 - Democrats 0. Both parties have made big promises, but neither has delivered a clear plan to create real economic opportunities for Latinos. As Latino voters, we deserve more than just words; we need action and tangible results or even just a plan.
Let's hope our leaders step up and turn their promises into reality. Until then, the score remains tied, and the game is still on.
