Brown Tide: Latina/o Voters Save Democrat's from Defeat.
November 15, 2022
After a squeaky, skin-of-the-teeth victory, the Democratic Party will remain in control of the US Senate. The victory which was seen by almost all pollsters and political commentators as impossible was delivered by Latina/o voters in Nevada and Arizona.
In Nevada, Senator Catherine Cortez Masto retained her seat by less than 1%. In Arizona Sen. Mark Kelly staved off a strong challenge by Trump-endorsed candidate Blake Masters.
Both victories depended on highly organized Latino/a volunteers turning out frustrated and often neglected Latino/a voters.
While the mainstream media focused on Hispanic GOP’ers in Florida and predicted that the Republican Party had made insurmountable Latino/a inroads they have failed to report that the predicted “Red Wave” was curtailed by a Brown tide.
