Biden Announces Policy Protecting the Undocumented

June 18, 2024

President Biden will announce a major change in national policy that will protect the undocumented spouses and children of US citizens from deportation.

The policy, currently referred to as "parole in place," will benefit qualifying immigrants who have been married for at least 10 years to their current US spouses.

An additional policy will also allow many DACA recipients who are known as 'DREAMERs, " the ability to work in the US legally.

According to Politico " In order to be eligible for the new policy, individuals must have resided in the U.S. for 10 or more years and be married to a U.S. citizen as of Monday. Those who qualify will be eligible for a three-year work permit and will have the same time period to apply for permanent resident status. "
