Democrats Attempt to Save DACA - Immigrants in Legal Limbo
November 16, 2022
Can DACA be saved?
Democrats in the House and Senate are preparing an attempt to pass a bill that would protect immigrants that are protected from deportation through the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program (DACA). DACA recipients are currently in legal limbo after a recent court ruling that is set to end the Obama Administration effort.
DACA preservation has received bi-partisan support in the past but has fallen short of passage.
If the legislative efforts fail over 600,00 immigrants who have lived in this country since childhood, many of which have no relationship with their country of birth, would be subject to deportation.
This law must be passed by the end of the year if it were to be successful.
